How to get to Solitude

Reaching Solitude Mountain Resort is easy with direct flights into Salt Lake City International Airport. From there, a scenic 45-minute drive brings you to the resort. Shuttle services and car rentals ensure a smooth journey from the airport to your accommodations.

Although it’s best known for its 1,200-acre expert skiers paradise, Honeycomb Canyon, intermediates are well served with tons of frontside tree runs and cruising boulevards. Advanced intermediates can enjoy Honeycomb Canyon’s Honey Trail, which is the resort’s longest descent at three and a half miles. Beginners have plenty of terrain options off three Solitude ski resort chairlifts: Sunrise, Moonbeam Express and Link. Beginner Skiing in Solitude:

Although Solitude is known as a powderhound’s haven—thanks to its 500 annual inches—it offers beginner skiers about 20 percent of its terrain. Solitude will please beginner skiers looking to experience the beauty and incredible snow conditions of Utah’s Wasatch Mountains. Less experienced beginners and first-timers will especially appreciate the Link chairlift and the gentle, green runs that surround it. When beginners feel ready to explore more of the mountain, they have two choice areas to explore: the cluster of trails off the Moonbeam Express or the long, green run off Sunrise chairlift. Ski Schools and Tours:

Join the Ski and Ride School and choose from group and private lessons or the Women on Wednesdays program. The professional instructors are skilled, knowledgeable, and passionate, ready to elevate your skiing and riding experience. Solitude Mountain Resort's ski schools cater to beginners at Moonbeam Base and Link Lift Area, offering group or private lessons. But don’t limit yourself to skiing, there are also snowboarding lessons that can take you from beginner to expert in no time! For experts, guided experiences explore advanced terrain, perfect for improving skills and tackling challenging parts of the mountain.

While it may not be as well-known as Alta and Snowbird, Solitude expert skiing stacks up as bucket-list quality terrain. Like it’s Little Cottonwood Canyon counterparts, Solitude sees a staggering 500 inches of perfect “lake effect” snowfall. Expert and extreme skiers and snowboarders can experience 30 percent of the resort’s terrain. With two adjacent ridgelines full of chutes, double-black diamond steeps, trees and powder fields, Honeycomb Canyon is an expert skier’s playground. Experts will also enjoy Headwall Forest and Evergreen zones, accessed via the Top Summit and challenge-seekers will revel in the double-black diamond glades off the top of the Powderhorn chairlift.

For something extra on your ski vacation, be sure and book a private tour with a Solitude expert. This three-hour tour will take you all over the mountain to find hidden stashes of powder and playful features to explore. This program is for advanced skiers or snowboarders that are 14+.

Family vacations in Solitude

Solitude Mountain is fun for the whole family. Not only is the ski school top-notch, there are many activities outside of skiing. Families can enjoy a variety of activities such as exploring pristine Nordic and snowshoe trails or taking a scenic lift ride. The town is filled with history is a fun learning vacation for the whole squad. On select days throughout winter, Solitude Ski Patrol brings out the avalanche dogs! Ski patrol teaches kids about avalanche and snow safety. As well as allowing them to interact with their four-legged friends.

For more adventure, try the Taos Bike Park, Via Ferrata climbing tours, and the Adventure Park.
